2024 Toyota Tacoma Trim Levels

The Toyota Tacoma has been a dominant force in the mid-size truck segment since it was released in the 1995 model year. The 2024 model is no different. Completely redesigned for the 2024 model year, the Toyota Tacoma builds upon its legacy as one of the most dependable and capable trucks on the market. Loaded with available technology and paired with an all-terrain capable drivetrain, there’s no wonder that the Tacoma is one of the best-selling vehicles on the planet.

But with several available trim levels and an abundance of features, how do you know which Tacoma to choose? In this comprehensive guide, we will take a deep dive into the 2024 Toyota Tacoma trim levels to help you decide which is the best fit for you.

Toyota Tacoma Trim Levels

The 2024 Tacoma comes in eight available trim levels. Each trim level offers a plethora of available features and unique design components. Deciding which trim level to purchase will come down to your wants, needs and of course, your budget. Let’s take a closer look at each available trim level as well as the options that make them unique.

SR

The first trim level we’ll look at is the SR trim. The SR trim is the base trim level on the 2024 Tacoma. It comes in 5 available color options. Drivers will get the 2.4L Turbocharged engine, but the i-FORCE 2.4L Turbocharged engine does come as an option on the double cab configuration. You can choose between a 6-speed manual transmission or the 8-speed automatic transmission and you’ll get the leaf spring rear suspension as a standard feature. You’ll also get the 8-inch multimedia display system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto so that you can stay connected while driving.

SR5

Next up is the Tacoma SR5 trim level. This features 6 available color options and comes standard with the i-FORCE 2.4L turbocharged engine. The 8-speed automatic transmission is also standard on this trim along with an available multi-link rear suspension on the double cab configuration. Some added features include 17-inch alloy wheels and an XtraCab configuration with a 6-foot bed.

TRD PreRunner

If you are looking for more capability out of your Tacoma, you may want to check out the TRD PreRunner trim level. You’ll get six available color options and the standard i-FORCE 2.4L Turbocharged engine which produces up to 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. Some upgraded capability options on the PreRunner trim include an electronic locking rear differential, a leaf spring rear suspension and a front suspension lift.

TRD Sport

The TRD Sport trim level is next on the list and comes with a bunch of options that aren’t available on the trim levels discussed previously. You’ll get up to 9 available color options to help customize the look of your Tacoma. You’ll also get aluminum sport pedals, a hood scoop and red TRD sport-tuned twin-tube shocks. The i-FORCE 2.4L turbocharged engine comes standard but can be optioned out for the i-FORCE MAX 2.4L turbocharged hybrid engine. This engine gets up to 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque.

TRD Off-Road

For Tacoma shoppers looking for a more off-road capable pickup, the aptly-named TRD Off-Road may be the perfect fit. Drivers will appreciate the composite skid plates, an available front stabilizer disconnect mechanism and multi-terrain select drive modes. The TRD Off-Road comes with both i-FORCE and i-FORCE MAX hybrid engine options and eight available color options.

Limited

Drivers looking for a more luxurious driving experience should consider the Limited trim level on the 2024 Tacoma. Added features include 18-inch chrome-clad wheels, power running boards and a power up/down tailgate with pinch sensor. Both engine types are available along with seven color options.

Trailhunter

New for the 2024 Tacoma, the Trailhunter trim level is an added option for those seeking a premium trim option. Drivers will get 18-inch bronze-colored Trailhunter wheels, a Trailhunter high-mount air intake, and frame-mounted rock rails. The i-FORCE MAX 2.4L turbocharged hybrid engine comes standard and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Drivers will appreciate the bold looking exterior and 5 available color options including the coveted Bronze Oxide paint.

TRD Pro

Last but certainly not least is the TRD Pro trim level. This is the most premium trim level available on the Tacoma and comes with an array of TRD-specific options. To start, you’ll notice the 18-inch black TRD Pro wheels, red TRD forged-aluminum upper control arms and Rigid Industries LED fog lights. The bold TRD badging on the exterior is further accentuated by the four available colors that get paired with a black roof. Featuring the hybrid engine option, the TRD Pro is a head-turner and undoubtedly the most capable of the Tacoma trims.

Toyota has done a great job in making these trim levels appeal to various customers. Those looking for a capable work truck may opt for the base trim levels. Drivers looking for a higher-end driving experience should look toward the more luxurious trim levels. The 2024 Tacoma really does offer something for everyone.

Price Comparison By Trim Level

It’s no secret that the Toyota Tacoma, like any quality pickup, demands a premium. But there’s more to consider than just the sticker price. The initial outlay is just the first hurdle; ongoing costs will vary according to the additional features, insurances, and potential fuel economy differences associated with each trim level.

As you are likely aware, one of the biggest differences between the various trim levels is the price tag. With the added features comes a higher starting MSRP.
