Toyota has been one of the most celebrated automakers when it comes to fuel efficiency. Which models from Toyota have the best gas mileage? With their lighter weight and smaller frames, sedans have a definite edge in this department. It’s no surprise that all of the most Toyota fuel-efficient cars are sedans.

 

 

The Mirai fuel-cell electric sedan, popular in California, tops the list with an EPA-estimated MPG of up to 76/71 city/highway. The Prius Prime plug-in hybrid, a recent addition to the Prius line, comes in second, with 54/133 city/highway. Rounding out the top three for Toyota sedans is the original Prius, a traditional hybrid that posts MPG ratings as high as 58/53 city/highway.

Toyota Sedan MPG for Gas-Powered Models

Although hybrid vehicles have pushed the limits for fuel-efficient driving, not every North Olmsted-area driver is ready to make the leap. Fuel-conscious car buyers may be surprised to learn about what’s possible with the latest gas-powered sedan models from Toyota. The Toyota Corollampg, for example, reaches as high as 32/41 city/highway MPG.

Unsurprisingly, the smallest models earn the best Toyota sedan mpg among gas-powered vehicles. The Corolla sedan closely follows its hatchback variant with up to 31/40 city/highway MPG, and the midsize Toyota Camry mpg makes the top three with 28/39.

Toyota Sedan MPG for Hybrid Models

The Toyota sedan gas mileage takes it up a notch with hybrid models. As a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), the Prius Prime has an electric motor and a combustion engine that are each capable of powering the vehicle independently. The 25-mile all-electric range means you can complete errands around Avon Lake using electric power only, such as when you commute or head to the grocery store.

If you’re looking for great Toyota sedan gas mileage that doesn’t require charging at all, consider a traditional hybrid. These models have an electric motor that supplements the engine and allows them to run while consuming less fuel. Hybrid versions of the compact Toyota Corolla mpg, the midsize Toyota Camry mpg, and the full-size Avalon sedan all have outstanding numbers.
