• Synthetic: This oil is also distilled from crude oil, but it features additives that break down the oil at molecular levels, which allows it to last much longer—anywhere between 7,500 and 15,000 miles. These additives also boost your engine’s performance, and efficiency, and break down grimy deposits. That said, synthetic is more expensive. 
• Blended: This type combines conventional and synthetic oil, which means it lasts longer than conventional oil and is less expensive than synthetic oil. 

Bear in mind, however, that the correct Toyota Highlander oil type will always be synthetic, as it features high-powered engine options that need more refined lubricant. 

How Often to Get a Toyota Highlander Oil Change
